OCS Ireland has successfully launched the new passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) service for the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), the management company for Ireland’s main airports.
From 26th July 2008, under Regulation EC 1107 / 2006, managing bodies of European Airports, such as the DAA, had a legal responsibility for the provision of assistance services to persons with reduced mobility travelling through their airports. Following an extensive consultative process, the DAA appointed OCS Ireland to provide these assistance services.
OCS Ireland aviation director Steven Wheeler believes passengers will see considerable improvements in waiting times on manual boarding:
“We’ve invested a lot of time and money in our services. We currently have three ambi-lifts in Dublin and are in the process of ordering two brand new replacements. This has made manual boarding of passengers a thing of the past. Also, part of our contract with DAA states we must meet specific time schedules, so that will hugely reduce passengers waits for assistance”.
One passenger travelling on a recent return flight from Shannon airport to Liverpool e-mailed us the following:
“I would like, as a disabled wheelchair bound passenger, to congratulate you on your wonderful service being provided. The staff are a credit to your company as they could not do enough for me and my carer, who is also my wife. Please keep up the good work.
I am a member of the Wheelchair Association of Ireland and I will be passing my comments on to them at headquarter level in Dublin.
I will be flying again in December and I am sure I will receive the same courteous treatment from your staff”.
With the successful implementation of this contract, we have now gained a great foothold in the aviation market in Ireland as a strategic partner for providing passenger services.
